The Senate Appropriations Committee recently passed S. 1596, which provides funding for HUD, the Department of Transportation, and other programs. The measure provides nearly $37 billion to fund HUD programs in fiscal year (FY) 2012. While the bill funds many programs at levels similar to FY 2011, there are some notable changes.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was signed into law by President Obama on Feb. 17, 2009. The Recovery Act included $13.61 billion for projects and programs administered by HUD.
