HUD Announces First-Ever Same-Sex Housing Discrimination Study

HUD recently released the nation’s first-ever national study examining housing discrimination against same-sex couples in the private rental market. The study, An Estimate of Housing Discrimination Against Same-Sex Couples, measures the treatment same-sex couples receive from rental agents when inquiring about apartments advertised online, as compared to how otherwise similar heterosexual couples are treated.

House of Representatives Releases $44B DOT, HUD Budget

The House Appropriations Committee recently unveiled a $44 billion budget for the departments of Transportation (DOT) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The amount for the agencies in the 2014 fiscal year is $7.7 billion less than their 2013 spending levels.

HUD Restructuring Could Relocate 900 Employees

Recently, HUD announced a “major restructuring” of field offices that will result in the relocation of approximately 10 percent of its workforce.
