Student Housing Providers Accused of Discriminating Against Families

The Justice Department recently filed a lawsuit alleging that the owners and managers of residential rental housing in Honolulu, Hawaii, refused to rent to families with children, in violation of federal fair housing law. New York Landlord Settles Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

The Justice Department recently announced that the owner and manager of rental properties in New York will be obligated to pay $850,000 in damages and civil penalties to resolve two fair housing lawsuits alleging that he sexually harassed numerous female applicants and residents for nearly three decades. NY Landlord Pays $400K to Settle Sexual Harassment Claim

Jul 24, 2019

A settlement was recently reached on behalf of a fair housing organization and eight women who accused an Oswego, N.Y., landlord of demanding sexual favors as a condition of tenancy. Under the settlement, the landlord will be permanently barred from managing rental properties and will be required to pay $400,000 in monetary relief.
