Speaker Harry Kelly, partner at Nixon Peabody LLP, will provide an overview of landlords’ obligations and tenants’ rights, and discuss compliance with HUD’s guidance on screening applicants for criminal history and complying with the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Speaker Edward Paroulek, Security Director of Knickerbocker Village in New York City, will discuss deterrents to criminal activity, such as security systems and personnel procedures.

Ed Paroulek has over 30 years in police and security services. He was a member of the New York City Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant and retired after 20 years.
