HUD to Speed Review of PHA Relief Requests in Disaster Areas

Nov 11, 2020

HUD published a notification in the Federal Register to establish an expedited process for the review of requests for relief from HUD Section 8 and public housing requirements by public housing agencies located in counties that are included in presidentially declared major disaster declarations in calendar years 2020 and 2021.

PHAs located in affected areas may request waivers of certain HUD Public Housing and Section 8 requirements and receive expedited review of such requests utilizing the flexibilities and expedited waiver process set out by the notification. The notice identifies waivers and flexibilities that are available to PHAs on an expedited basis following major disaster declarations.
